Bonjour Paris!

Ahhhhh…. Paris! TBS’ Year 11 & 13 Art, Graphics and Travel & Tourism students did boulevards, basilacas and bistros. Write up by Aime Withers

Forty students and five staff members from TBS embarked on an unforgettable trip to Paris, filled with excitement, learning, and camaraderie. The journey began in the early hours of October 24, as the group gathered at TBS for a 5am start (shout out to Mr Vardy for rescuing us in Padlockgate!), ready for a 12-hour journey by coach and ferry. Spirits were high despite the early start, and as we arrived in Paris, anticipation for the days ahead was palpable!

The Parisian adventure kicked off with a visit to the Eiffel Tower, and the group was in awe as they stood beneath the iconic structure, capturing photos and memories. Jackson also showed off some of his impeccable dance moves as he grooved with the street performers under the iconic tower.

Afterward, we faced the challenge of navigating the Paris Metro—an experience met with both excitement and some cautious bravery, as they learned the art of commuting like true Parisians! The iconic bellows of “GO GO GO!” by Mrs Ware as we moved from one platform to the next will be in our ears for some time!

The Metro brought us to the breath-taking Sacré-Cœur. Students were captivated by the stunning basilica and its panoramic views over the city, and for many, it was their first encounter with Paris’s historic charm before we visited a delightful French restaurant for a traditional dinner.

On various days, museums played a key role in the itinerary, with visits to the Musée d’Orsay and the Louvre providing a deep dive into art, culture and history. The students marvelled at masterpieces, from Van Gogh to Da Vinci, and took in centuries of artistic achievement. Mrs Ware was in her element, surrounded by her favourite artists inside the museums and out with a whole host of amazing street art to be seen as we wandered around – always remember: “Everyone LOOK UP! There is so much more when you look up!”

Friday evening we fuelled up for Disneyland with an absolute feast at the Hard Rock Café in Paris – who doesn’t love huge plates of food and singing Queen while eating it?! The journey back to the hotel was fuelled by DJs Withers and Payvandi, who were excellent on the coach microphone throughout the trip.

The highlight for many came with a day trip to Disneyland Paris. Amid the enchantment of Disney’s magical kingdom, students and staff alike let loose, enjoying the thrilling rides, parades, and attractions. Laughter and excitement filled the air as everyone, regardless of age, became kids at heart for the day. Especially Mr Allum, who thoroughly enjoyed the Tower of Terror, as much as he denied it.

After four days of incredible experiences, we boarded the coach on October 27 for the return journey to Bicester, finally arriving home at 11 p.m. Though exhausted, we all carried back unforgettable memories, new friendships and stories we’ll share for years to come.

This trip to Paris was not just about seeing the sights; it was a chance for students to immerse themselves in another culture, gain independence and create bonds through shared experiences. It was an adventure that will undoubtedly inspire them long after the bags are unpacked.
