Drama KS3 Curriculum
In year 7, 8 and 9 students experience Drama twice a fortnight and work practically on building their theatrical skills as well as knowledge of theatre, communication, confidence, and teamwork.

Learning aim: Students participating in a devising project based around themes from the Titanic. · Responding to a stimulus · Working in groups to adapt and refine own content · Writing a logbook of rehearsals |
5 | Title: Darkwood Manor
Learning aim: Storytelling unit looking at creating atmosphere and working in role. Students create their own play and design the lights and sound to build an entire performance. · How to build tension · Working and responding to teacher in role · Narration, proxemics and creation of atmosphere |
6 | Title: Commedia dell’arte
Learning aim: First exploration of comedy. Students to use scripted and devising skills to create a Commedia dell’arte inspired performance. · Stock characters · Timing · Live theatre evaluation |

5 | Title: Everybody’s talking about Jamie
Learning aim: To look at the process of creating a musical and other roles within theatre. Students will be assessed on their live theatre evaluation. · Exploring musical theatre · Describing drama skills in a piece of live theatre · Evaluating professional performance work |
6 | Title: Silent Movies
Learning aim: Students will explore mime and exaggeration to create their own silent movies with soundtrack. · Deepen understanding of physical skills and mime · Silent movie archetypes and techniques · Writing about how they developed their scenes |

Learning aim: To develop their understanding of how a production is created and be able to describe, analyse and evaluate the end product.
