What skills will the course help you develop?
English Literature creates, build and sustains a love of books: novels, plays and poetry. This GCSE develops students’ ability to analyse plot, characters, themes, language and structural devices, and context. They will study old and modern texts, make comparisons between literary works and develop their ability to identify effects on the reader.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment is 100% examination.
Exam One: Shakespeare and the 19th Century Novel (40% of qualification)
Exam Two: Modern Texts and Prose (60% of qualification)
