Fran Pollard – Head of English

Fran undertook a whistle-stop tour of 1,000 years of English Literature in her first degree in English, after which she completed an MA in Modern Literature.

Fran completed her teaching qualification at the University of Oxford before starting her teaching career in Leicestershire- in the first truly ‘comprehensive’ school in the country; she has since taught in Oxfordshire.

Joining The Bicester School five years ago, she spent her first year here in the role of Assistant Head of Year 11 before becoming Head of English.  In this role, Fran works to ensure the English curriculum, the delivery of it, and attainment of all students is excellent.

Aside from teaching, Fran has spent much time travelling and volunteering- sometimes both together. She’s extensively travelled Asia and volunteered on several refugee camps in the wake of the 2004 tsunami, worked in Montessori schools in southern Thailand and taught conversational English to whole rural Thai villages.
