When it comes to times tables, speed and accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations. Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help students master the times tables!
To be a Times Table Rock Star you need to answer any multiplication fact up to 12×12 in less than 3 seconds! The goal is for all participating rockers to be Times Table Rock Stars after 20 weeks.
GCSE revision guides and workbooks
All Y10 students are provided with a GCSE revision guide and associated workbook for their associated tier of entry. Revision guides will be referred to regularly in class during Y11 and expected to be used for revision, along with the workbooks, continually throughout the year.
A-Level text books
All text books are provided for Y13 students for each module for a small, refundable deposit. Books are referred to throughout the teaching of the course and are expected to remain in the students’ presence during all lessons. Most are available for online download also, which is an option many of our students chose to ensure they never forget books for class, homework and revision.
The full range of texts can be found in the following range:
- Edexcel AS and A Level Modular Mathematics
Y12 who are following the new Edexcel Maths A-Level course have online versions of the text book provided, but can opt to purchase the hard copies of text books through the department. Please speak to Mrs Nash for more details.
The department has recently secured a trolley of 30 windows enabled laptops for use only in maths. These will allow students, along with the use of ICT suites, more access to all online resources and revision aids throughout their course. All laptops are enabled with all maths software regularly used in the department.
Students are expected to have a pen, pencil, ruler and scientific calculator on them at all times. In maths we require everyone to also have a set of mathematical equipment including mainly a compass and protractor. For anyone wishing to purchase any of this equipment including scientific calculators, we sell all items within the department for a reasonable price (lower than at local retailers). For more information contact Mrs Williscroft in Ma03.
