North Oxfordshire Tennis Qualifiers Tournament

On Friday the 15 of June, 9 students from The Bicester School competed in the North Oxfordshire Tennis Qualifiers tournament.

Success would be the theme of the day with the girls Under 13 team consisting of Grace (Year 8) and Ines (Year 7) winning the Under 13 division and beating both girls Under 15 teams from BGN and Sibford.

On the boys side, both Anthony S (Year 7) and Bobby H (Year 7) were competing in the Under 15 boys division against opposition who were in Year 9 and 10. This was no problem for the two boys who did not drop more than 5 tie-break points in any game, showing both maturity and playing ability beyond their age and comfortably winning the division.

In their first tennis tournament Harry F (Year 7), Ben H (Year 7), Morgan A (Year 7), Mackenzie Rose (Year 7) and Jack F (Year 7) all represented both themselves and the school in a positive manner improving throughout the day and showing a great deal of resilience when playing experienced opposition.

Perhaps surprisingly, especially based on the reaction of Harry, during the announcements of the results both he and Ben were named as winners of the Under 13 division and will also qualify for the Under 13 County finals.

Congratulations to all, especially those playing in their first tennis tournament.

Onto the county finals next month!
