Progress 8 is just one measure of school performance. Based on students KS2 SATs results, all students have an expected trajectory against which their GCSE results will be measured. This is the Progress 8 score. In isolation, a Progress 8 score does not tell the full story so should be used in conjunction with the Attainment 8 score and English and Maths headlines.
The Bicester School is a fully inclusive secondary school and our intake each year reflects this. In 2017 the entry points of our students were below students nationally and in 2018 this is significantly below.
Due largely to our intake of service students and students who move into the country, our percentage coverage for Progress 8 is low – in 2017 it was 89% of the year group. This means 11% of our students (those without KS2 SATs data) results did not count in this Progress 8 score and this skews our Progress 8 score significantly.
- Progress 8: -0.28
- Attainment 8: 43.34 (this is equivalent to an old grade C). National figure: 46 (grade C).
- Attainment 8 for students not included in Progress 8 coverage: 48.9
- Percentage of students achieving a grade 4+ (standard pass) in GCSE Maths & English: 65% (64% nationally).
- Percentage of students achieving a grade 5+ (strong pass) in GCSE Maths & English: 41% (43% nationally).
