On the 26th of September 2025, The Bicester School came alive with colour, creativity, and culture as we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the European Day of Languages. This year’s theme, “Languages open hearts and minds!”, inspired students to explore how language learning builds empathy, bridges cultures, and opens up new perspectives.
Our KS3 Poster Challenge saw an incredible array of vibrant and imaginative entries. Students used colour, symbolism, and powerful messages to show how languages build empathy, bridge cultures, and open up the world. The creativity on display was truly inspiring!
Alongside the poster competition, we also took part in the National Languages Writing Competition, open to all year groups. Students submitted heartfelt and thoughtful pieces in languages they are learning, exploring themes such as identity and connection. Many entries included beautiful illustrations and personal reflections, showcasing not only linguistic skills but emotional depth and cultural awareness.
We are proud of every student who participated and grateful for the enthusiasm and effort shown.
Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the most inspiring entries, but every participant deserves recognition for their enthusiasm and creativity.
The event was a wonderful reminder of how languages enrich our lives and bring us closer together.
