Personal Investigation

  • Introduction to personal investigation.
  • How to choose a theme for an extended study.
  • Conduct a practical investigation, into an idea, concept or theme, supported by written material. The focus of the investigation must be identified independently by students and must lead to a finished outcome or a series of related finished outcomes.

Personal Investigation

  • Continue developing ideas and responses to their chosen investigation.
  • Experiment with a variety of art techniques and media.
  • Introduction to essay techniques and understanding subject specific vocabulary.
  • Focus on analytical annotations in sketchbooks.

Year 13

  • Continue the in-depth study that demonstrates an ability to construct and develop a sustained investigation. That includes an essay and a portfolio of practical work.
  • Refine ideas

  • Develop final outcomes.

  • Conclusion of personal investigation with a clear final realisation and submission of all practical and written work.
  • Release of externally set assignment (1st of Feb.)

  • Complete preparatory work for externally set assignment.
  • Research artists and development of practical techniques.

  • Exam and submission (1st, 5th and 6th of May).

  • Study leave
