Our Ambassadors of Change students took part in a professional workshop this week aimed at planning how to make the very most of this event. Students worked in breakout groups on the themes of branding, neurodiversity, mentoring, sustainability and media, with the help of their parent sponsors, event sponsors and even the Town and Gown organisers. Each group considered what they could be doing to help the Town and Gown event, which already has 140 students signed up from The Bicester School to take part, bigger and better this year. Key themes were around inclusion, sustainability and how to generate positive media coverage for the event and the school.
The Bicester School has taken part in the Town and Gown 10k event for the last three years, after Miss Masterson ran the event in 2022, and made a vow to bring the first state school students to the event the following year. The event is organised by Muscular Dystrophy UK, and aims to raise over half a million pounds for the charity between the events in both Oxford and Cambridge this year.
Headteacher Mrs Knowlton as well as the CEO of ALET, the Trust of which our school is part, Ms Harper, both attended the session and were really impressed with the involvement and dedication of the students involved. Our youngest students had some of the best ideas, all of which will be discussed at future AoC planning meetings to get the full AoC teams swinging into action.
Well done to the AoC members who were present, some of whom took part in the introductory presentation and spoke confidently and well in front of our visitors and guests. We can’t wait for the actual event!
