AMBASSADORS OF CHANGE
At the Bicester School, we elect a group of students every year to act as our Ambassadors of Change, leading on key student projects thoughout the year.
Last year, students were involved in:
- Running an in-school Christmas market
- Fundraising by running ‘the TBS mile’ every Friday
- Meeting the High Sheriff of Oxfordshire to guide his work on making Oxfordshire greener and healthier
- Organising our participation in the ‘Town and Gown’ 5k run
- Swimathon event
- Lots of cake sales including celebrating Pride, Children in Need and Cancer Research
A full calendar of activities for this year is here so make sure you come along and get involved in some of the interesting activities.
The Ambassador of Change (AoC) programme aims to support the changing world young people are growing up in, providing opportunities to develop leadership, confidence, creativity, and real-world life skills through sport, mentoring, sustainability, media, branding, and neurodiversity leadership training. What began as a sports council initiative has grown into a diverse community group making a meaningful impact through student-led projects and events.
Some recent AoC initiatives include:
- AoC students leading and supporting 160 participants in the Oxford Town and Gown run alongside staff and volunteers.
- A Swift Box initiative, installing over 10 swift boxes to encourage biodiversity and environmental awareness.
- An AoC wreath-making event encouraging parents and children to put down their phones, connect, and get creative together.
- A student-led Christmas Market raising funds for Crisis, supporting people experiencing homelessness.
- Developing student voice through initiatives such as food and drink tasting sessions, where Ambassadors gather feedback and evidence to help shape and improve the school canteen experience.
If you would like to support in anyway, do get in touch with Sarah, who started and leads this initiative.
