Match Report – TBS vs BGN
On Wednesday 24th September, the Year 10 rugby fixture was a brilliant showcase of teamwork, adaptability, and the true spirit of the game. Our visitors arrived short on age-qualified players, fielding just two Year 10s, but what they lacked in numbers they more than made up for in heart. Their fearless Year 9s stepped up to the challenge with remarkable grit and resilience, proving themselves more than worthy opponents.
Our own squad of 14 Year 10s found themselves a little surprised by the circumstances, but they handled it with maturity and sportsmanship. Roles were rotated seamlessly with the 10 committed Year 9s who had come along fresh from training, eager to support and get stuck in. That commitment didn’t go unnoticed, and it was fantastic to see the blend of ages working together so naturally.
The Year 10s showed great leadership, encouraging their younger teammates both on and off the pitch. Even when they weren’t playing, they threw their voices behind the Year 9s, whose determination in defence helped protect a well-earned lead.
The final score line read 45–26 to TBS, but the result only tells part of the story. This was a fixture full of energy, sportsmanship, and shared pride. An amazing afternoon where both schools embodied the best values of rugby: courage, teamwork, and respect.
A superb result for TBS, but more importantly, a memorable day that highlighted the strength of our rugby team.
Shoutout to 6th form and year 11 coaches/refs Jimmy, Jacob, Ewan and Tequan for their continued help and support at rugby training and matches.
