The Bicester School’s Ski and Snowboarding Trip to Pal-Arinsal, Andorra was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, challenge, laughter and fun. A total of 53 pupils of mixed abilities—ranging from complete beginners to experienced skiers and snowboarders—took part in the trip, making it a fantastic opportunity for everyone to learn and progress.
The journey began on Saturday 28th March, when students and staff travelled together by P&O ferry, marking an exciting start to the trip. After the overnight crossing and a long but scenic journey through France and into the Pyrenees, the group arrived in Andorra La Vella on Sunday 29th March, ready for the week ahead.
From Monday to Friday, students participated in ski and snowboard lessons in the Pal-Arinsal resort. Across the week, they built confidence, developed new skills, and challenged themselves on a variety of slopes. The group experienced an incredible range of weather conditions—everything from freezing temperatures and heavy cloud, to blizzards, and even perfect bluebird powder days—adding to the authenticity and excitement of the mountain experience.
Après-ski activities each evening ensured there was never a dull moment. On Monday, students enjoyed a pizza night at a small, family-run restaurant just outside of town, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Tuesday brought a lively bowling and karaoke night, full of laughter and enthusiasm. On Wednesday, students explored the shops in Andorra La Vella, experiencing local culture and picking up souvenirs. Thursday’s trampoline and foam pit park session provided high-energy fun and a chance to unwind after a full day on the slopes. The week wrapped up on Friday with farewells to the instructors, celebrating the progress and achievements of all students.
A highlight of the trip was the much-anticipated Fancy Dress Friday, a long-standing tradition. Staff fully embraced the theme by dressing as Shrek characters, while students joined in with equally creative costumes—ranging from Teletubbies and trolls to bananas and more. The group certainly stood out on the slopes, with Bicester School proving they know how to catch attention in the mountains!
Overall, the trip was a huge success, combining skill development, resilience, and unforgettable shared experiences. It provided students with the chance to step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and create lasting memories both on and off the slopes.
