Year 12 and 13 adventurers embarked on their much-anticipated DofE Gold Expedition to the Peak District – and what a week it was!
Taking place between 28 April-2 May, this years trip was a stark contrast to last year’s damp escapade with gorgeous sunshine and clear skies. While the shift in weather meant fewer drenched boots, it brought a new challenge – keeping the sunburn at bay – the group collectively went through over 30 bottles of sunscreen!
85km of grit, determination and scenic beauty
The students pushed themselves to the limit, trekking an impressive 85km through stunning landscapes. Blisters were earned, spirits soared and every step brought them closer to that unbeatable sense of achievement when the finish line finally came into sight. Even the uphill climbs became bearable – well, maybe not for Mr Allum, who might need a recovery period after the week’s exertions!
Clocking in over 200km of minibus travel to get there, our students still found ways to make the journey enjoyable, thanks to the musical genius of Charlie Moore’s playlists!
An achievement to be proud of!
Every single participant completed their expedition with flying colours – huge congratulations to our Year 12 and 13 adventurers! A particularly special nod goes to the Year 13s, who realised this would be their last ever school trip – a bittersweet moment that made their achievement even more meaningful.
We’d also like to recognise the determination of Kai Kinsella-Miles, Harry Townsend, Thomas Blakey, Jenna Shaer, and Chloe Hall, who have now officially completed all expeditions at every DofE level – what an incredible accomplishment! And a massive shout-out to BXM Expeditions for their top-notch support – we couldn’t have done it without you!
Here’s to the resilience, teamwork and adventure that made this trip unforgettable. Until next time, Peak District!
