KS5 BIOLOGY
In A Level Biology, students develop a deep and detailed understanding of the living world through a wide range of engaging and challenging topics. Following the AQA specification students build on the foundations laid at GCSE, and the course introduces more advanced biological concepts such as biochemical pathways and the control of gene expression. Biology is essential for many higher education courses, for example, medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, biomedical science, environmental science, agriculture, genetics, and education.
In addition to written examinations, students complete a number of practical activities that are assessed internally, contributing towards their A Level Practical Endorsement. These practicals allow students to demonstrate essential laboratory skills such as planning, implementing, analysing, and evaluating scientific investigations – skills that are highly valued in higher education and STEM careers.
