A rising star in British powerlifting is preparing to take on Europe’s best at the upcoming Sub-Junior European Powerlifting Championships, held from November 29 to December 7 in Druskininkai, Lithuania.

The competition will feature three classic lifts – squat, bench press, and deadlift – with athletes given three attempts in each discipline. Their best lifts are combined for a total score, and the highest total determines the winner.

Competing in the under-105kg category, Kristo will step onto the platform on Tuesday, December 2 at 11am BST. With a current competition best of a 270kg squat, 170kg bench press, and a 300kg deadlift, he boasts a 740kg total.

Earlier this year, Kristo claimed victory at the 2025 British Championships, a result that secured his position as No.1 in the UK and propelled him to 5th in the world rankings. Now, his sights are firmly set on European gold.

“I’m aiming not just to win, but to break records,” he said. Already the holder of two regional records – for deadlift and total – he is targeting the national squat record of 275.5kg, the national total record of 775.5kg.

With a strong track record and big ambitions, Kristo is one to watch as he represents the UK on the international stage.
