The Bicester School celebrates GCSE results

A proud day for students, parents, and staff at The Bicester School

Year 11 students at The Bicester School are celebrating this morning after receiving their
GCSE results.

Eager students picked up their results from the Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school this morning,
having waited anxiously over the summer.

This year, we are celebrating some of our strongest results. 48% of our students achieved
grade 5 or above in English and Maths, the best the school has ever achieved. 64% of
students achieved Maths and English at grade 4 or above. On average, students achieved a
grade 4.7, which is above the recognized standard for a grade 4 pass.

We are proud of all our students for their hard work and resilience. Some notable individual
achievements include:

• Ruan Vermeulen achieved 9 GCSE’s, 6 grade 9’s and 3 grade 8’s.
• George Gronow achieved 8 GCSE’s, 5 grade 9’s and 2 grade 8’s and 1 grade 7.
• Charlotte Win achieved 9 GCSE’s, 4 grade 9’s and 5 grade 8’s.

Students are moving on to a range of exciting destinations. These include apprenticeships
as well as progression into The Bicester School’s sixth form.

Headteacher Mrs. Sam Knowlton said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be celebrating our
best GCSE results in four years. Our students have shown what it truly means to Aspire
and Achieve. We are immensely proud of every single student, not only for their results
but for the dedication, resilience and commitment they have shown throughout their
time with us and today is a real testament to that.
For many, these results provide an exciting steppingstone into our inclusive and
welcoming Sixth Form. With a wide range of academic and vocational pathways,
supported by a nurturing and ambitious environment, our Sixth Form offers every
student the opportunity to thrive, succeed and prepare for the next stage of their future.
We would like to thank our dedicated staff, who have guided and supported our
students every step of the way and our families, who have been steadfast in their
encouragement. Above all, we congratulate our students. Today is a celebration of their
hard work, their perseverance and the bright futures that now await them’’
